Lady Indians' season ends in overtime loss 61-52 to Metro Christian Friday

  MUSKOGEE - Nikki Lewis's 3-pointer with 17 seconds remaining in regulation gave the Sequoyah Lady Indians a chance, but the Metro Christian Lady Patriots outscored Sequoyah 10-1 in the extra session as the Lady Patriots defeated the Lady Indians 61-52 in overtime in the Area consolation semifinals Friday afternoon at the Muskogee Civic Center.   
  The loss ended the season for the Lady Indians and snapped a streak of four seasons in going to the state tournament.   
  Sequoyah led 43-36 going into the final eight minutes of regulation, but the Lady Patriots got the first five points of the fourth quarter on buckets by Emily Langston and a 3-pointer from Courtney Creedon to cut the gap to 43-41 with 6:44 left in regulation.   
  The Lady Indians went cold from the field in the final period and Langston would tie the game at 48-48 with 2:20 remaining in regulation, then Sarah Bailey put Metro Christian on top 49-48 on 1 of 2 from the foul line with 1:24 remaining.  
  After Langston gave Metro Christian a 51-48 lead with a pair of free throws, Lewis buried a 25-foot, 3-pointer to knot the game at 51-51. Metro Christian had the final shot, but the attempt from Langston was off the mark and the game went into overtime.  
  In the extra session, it was all Metro Christian as the Lady Patriots would got 4 for 4 from the line and got baskets from Langston, Creedon and Bailey to put the game away. 
  The lone point for the Lady Indians in the four-minute extra period came on a free throw from senior Kaheya Hooper with eight seconds left in the contest. 
  The two teams were tied 8-8 at the end of the opening quarter before the Lady Indians started to take charge as Lewis scored 9 of the Lady Indians' 18 points in the period, but had to miss the final two minutes of the half after she was run-over by the Metro Christian player as the junior guard was setting pick near the free throw line. 
  Sequoyah held a double-digit lead twice in the third quarter, but the Lady Patriots cut the gap down to seven going into the final eight minutes of regulation. 
  Lewis finished the game with 26 points, while Lindsey Hammer added 15. Tara Comingdeer was next with 8, Taylor Johnson had 2 and Hooper added 1. 
  Langston would lead all scorers with 27 points for the Lady Patriots, while Katy Preaus added 12. 
  The Lady Indians finished the season with a record of 16-11.
